Weekend & Holiday Newborn & Sick Child Care
Our Protocol
- We see patients 364 days a year - that of course includes Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays
- Christmas Day (December 25) is the only day of the year that we do not see patients in person in our office
Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays operate basically the same
On Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays, we see patients with concerns that can't wait until the next regular business day. That typically includes two types of patients.
- Newborns: Weekend Newborn Clinic; Holiday Newborn Clinic
- Acutely ill children (children with illnesses of short duration): Weekend Sick Child Clinic; Holiday Sick Child Clinic
Office Protocol for Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays
- On Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays, we take phone calls directly in our office from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
- We schedule our weekend / holiday clinic form the phone calls we receive after 9:00 AM. We have a limited number of appointments, so those visits tend to fill up pretty quickly. If you think your child needs to be seen that day, call as soon after 9:00 AM as you can.
- After 10:00 AM, our after hours nurse phone triage service will begin taking urgent calls about sick children
- There are no 'walk-in' appointments at any time in our office - all visits are by appointment only
- Newborn Clinic begins at 10:00 AM
- Sick Child Clinic will begin sometime after Newborn Clinic
- Weekend and Holiday Clinic ends at 1:00 PM
Patient Portal Messages on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays
Messages sent on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays are not likely to be ready prior to the next regular business day (typically Monday or possibly Tuesday if Monday was a holiday). Do not send urgent or emergent messages through the patient portal.
