Our Providers

Dani E. B. Brandenburg, MSN, RN, CPNP-PC

Undergraduate: University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

Nursing School: Duke University

Graduate School: Walden University

You may recognize Dani as a former RCAM nurse. She returned to us in 2025 after obtaining a graduate nursing degree to work as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Where are you from? I was born and raised in Apex, North Carolina.

What are some of your favorite trips to take? My favorite trip was to Saint John in 2022 for my honeymoon, but my favorite yearly trip is to my home away from home, Bald Head Island.

What other jobs did you have before becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner? I formerly worked as a nurse at RCAM, but this is my first position as a pediatric nurse practitioner. Before working in healthcare, I was a barista at Starbucks and a nanny while in nursing school.

How did you decide to work in pediatrics? I have always wanted to work as a pediatric provider since I was a small child. I consistently told people who asked that I wanted to be a “baby doctor.” After finishing nursing school, I quickly learned I wanted to pursue my nurse practitioner certification. I considered going into obstetrics but quickly realized pediatrics was my true passion. I decided to become a nurse practitioner because I wanted to help people and reach them in a way I was unable to as a nurse. Pediatrics always enticed me because I desired to create bonds with families and watch patients grow and flourish into adults. The developmental years of childhood set the trajectory for the rest of a person’s life, so I am excited to be a part of that influential partnership between patients and their families.

Why come work with us at RCAM? I have worked as a nurse at RCAM since March 2022. I felt right at home from the day I started. I completed my clinical rotations for NP school here, working with a handful of RCAM’s experienced providers. I knew it was ultimately the team I wanted to join as a provider upon graduation. It is an incredible group of individuals who work there, and I am blessed to become a part of it. Interests & hobbies: I love listening to podcasts, trying new coffee shops, working out, practicing yoga, and spending time with friends and family. Although I have never taught it, I am a certified yoga instructor.

What are your sports allegiances? I am a die-hard Steelers fan, a trait passed down to me at birth that will undeniably be passed down to my own children. I always support my alma mater, UNC, so I will be caught cheering for all Tar Heel events, especially when they face Duke.

Tell us about your family. I have a husband, Kip, a daughter, Marina, and a Labrador retriever named Daisy.

How has your life changed since having a child? There is truly no amount of preparation that can be done physically, emotionally, or financially to set the stage for parenthood. I view life through a completely different lens now that I am a parent. I feel that my experiences as a mother help me provide better care to my patients and their families as I have learned through trial and error in raising my daughter. I believe care should be a collaborative partnership, which I understand substantially more now that I am a mother.
