Immunizations

Raleigh Children & Adolescents recommend the vaccination schedule as presented the AAP

The Pediatricians at RCAM – in an effort to promote the safest and best practices for our patients as determined by careful attention to the most current and reliable information – enthusiastically and unanimously endorse the vaccine schedule as presented by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

In fact, not only do we recommend this schedule - we also live it - as this is the same schedule we give to our own children (NOTE: You can always assume that recommendations that come from the Pediatricians at RCAM are the some as what they recommend for our own families. Anything else just would not make sense.).

What should a family do if they have questions or are uneasy about vaccinating their child?

We understand if you have questions. There can be confusing chatter about childhood vaccines. If you find yourself wondering - "Why is my pediatrician recommending this for my child?" - let's talk.

As pediatricians,  we have dedicated our careers to maintaining the health of these most valued members of society. Please know we are here for your child and are happy to offer what we can. Our help may come in the form of a conversation, answering questions, or providing big-picture context to make sense of a complicated subject.

We will work with you... but there is a limit

If you still would prefer to alter your child's vaccine schedule, we will work with you... to an extent. For parents who want to spread out vaccines or otherwise alter their child's vaccination schedule, we do have a policy that addresses our concerns about delaying immunity against things like pertussis (whooping cough) and pneumococcus (to name a few). If you choose to not vaccinate your child or cannot meet the minimum requirements of our policy, we will ask that you find a new place for your child's pediatric care.
