Raleigh Children & Adolescents Medicine began in 1966 when Robert Fleming, MD began a solo pediatric medical practice near Cameron Village.
It wasn’t that long before he was joined by Stephen Edwards, MD and Alan Goldman, MD. Those three now enjoy a well-deserved retirement after a combined 98 years of service to the health and welfare of children.
A native North Carolinian, Dr. Carr has been quite loyal to UNC-CH – where she received undergraduate and medical school degrees and where she attended pediatric residency.
Dr. Lehan was raised in Hickory, N.C. She worked as a psychiatric social worker at Broughton Hospital in Morganton, N.C. before attending UNC-Chapel Hill and receiving her medical degree.
Almost a native of Raleigh, Dr. Harris escaped to Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. for college where he enjoyed regular attendance in Rupp Arena for Kentucky basketball games.
Dr. Gessner is a true Raleigh native who achieved the rank of Lt. Commander as an officer in the US Navy prior to coming to our office. He served four years after earning a Biology degree at UNC-CH.
Dr. Fletcher also hails from the City of Oaks. She attended Duke University as an undergraduate where she competed in the high jump as a member of the track team.
Dr. Owrey is not from North Carolina – she is from a small town in Northern Michigan. She studied Biology and Chemistry at Albion College.
Not only is Dr. Lily Harris another Raleigh native, she is also a native of Raleigh Children & Adolescents Medicine – she is our first pediatrician who as a child was also a patient in our practice.
